Inspired by the oatmeal, we thought it would be fun to build a short comic about why we’re hesitant to share while snorkeling with tourists.  This is based on real life experiences (unfortunately.)  We hope you like it!

Maui Tourists Snorkeling

Moral of the story:  Leave the ocean life to itself.  Maui has some incredible life in the ocean, but it’s best to enjoy from a safe distance.  This ensures everybody’s safety.

Going within 10 feet of a sea turtle on purpose is against the law.  Sea turtles are protected by law because they can become overstressed and possibly drowned by human interaction.

The best way to see Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles is to go on a boat tour to Turtle Town, keep your distance, and hope they come up to you! When you’re not seen as a threat, they’ll bob around you all day.
